Bar Mixer Showers

Bar mixer showers are the most popular type of exposed shower in UK homes, and for good reason. A thermostatic bar valve mounts directly onto the wall, mixes hot and cold to a steady, safe temperature and connects to a riser rail with an overhead head and a handset. Because the pipework stays on the surface, a bar mixer shower is straightforward to fit or replace, making it ideal for renovations, rental properties and anyone upgrading an older shower without retiling.

Thermostatic bar valves and shower kits

Our bar mixer shower range includes complete kits and standalone valves. The Twiss premium exposed thermostatic kit, the Aurora deluxe exposed valve and riser kit and the Stark Cube kit each combine a thermostatic bar valve with a riser rail, a rainfall overhead head and a handset, in round or square styling and in chrome or brushed brass. If you already have a rail and head, the thermostatic bar valve with handset and slide rail gives you a thermostatic upgrade on its own. Every valve features anti-scald thermostatic control, which holds the temperature steady even when a tap is run elsewhere in the house.

Choosing a bar mixer shower

Check that your hot and cold supplies are at similar pressure, as most bar mixers perform best on combi boilers, unvented cylinders or pumped systems. Consider whether you want a fixed overhead head with a diverter to a handset, or a simpler single-handset rail. Bathroom City has over 40 years of bathroom experience, offers free UK delivery on orders over £50 and provides a free 3D design service to help plan your new bathroom.
