Back to Wall Toilet Units
Back-to-wall toilet units provide a sleek way to conceal the cistern while adding coordinated style to your bathroom. Their compact design suits cloakrooms, en-suites, and smaller bathrooms, maximising space whilst achieving a clean, modern finish. Browse our range of back-to-wall toilets below, with a variety of finishes, shapes, and sizes.
What Is a Back to Wall Toilet?
A back-to-wall toilet attaches flush to the wall, with the cistern concealed either within the wall cavity or inside a purpose-built furniture unit. Unlike close-coupled toilets, where the cistern sits visibly on top of the pan, back-to-wall designs create a streamlined profile with only the toilet pan and flush plate visible. This construction hides unsightly pipework and creates a cleaner visual line, particularly suited to modern bathroom schemes prioritising minimalist aesthetics.
Most back-to-wall WC units arrive as complete packages including the furniture unit, concealed cistern, flush plate, and soft-close toilet seat. The furniture unit houses the cistern within a dedicated compartment, accessed via removable panels for maintenance.
Some ranges offer the toilet pan separately, so you can select your preferred pan styles independently. This flexibility suits those preferring specific pan styles, replacing existing toilets whilst retaining functional pans, or coordinating with particular toilet designs.
Back-to-wall toilet units are available in widths of 500–600mm, compact enough for cloakrooms and en-suites while still housing a standard pan and a concealed cistern. From this, you can choose a variety of depths and heights to suit different bathroom layouts:
Depth:
- 100–200mm for ultra-slim, space-saving designs
- 200–300mm for a balance of compactness and storage
- 300–400mm for maximum storage capacity
Height:
- 700–800mm low-profile units with a small worktop
- 800–1000mm mid-height units for light storage or display
- 1000–1200mm tall units with cupboards or shelving
Some models also feature comfort-height pans (460–480mm seat height), making them easier to use for taller people, older adults, and those with mobility needs, while remaining suitable for modern family bathrooms.

The vast majority of our collection features modern back-to-wall toilets with clean lines, handleless or minimalist hardware, and streamlined profiles. These suit bathrooms with frameless shower enclosures, wall-hung vanity units, and sleek sanitaryware.
In our collection, you can also find traditional back-to-wall toilets. These incorporate decorative panelling, classic hardware, and furniture-quality detailing. These complement Victorian-style sanitaryware, freestanding baths, and heritage brassware whilst maintaining the practical benefits of concealed cisterns.

Our back-to-wall toilet units are available in a wide range of colours and finishes to suit any design scheme, from timeless white in gloss or matt for bright, versatile spaces, to contemporary greys that complement modern and greige interiors.
For a more luxurious look, navy and petrol blue add depth and sophistication, while bold matt black creates a striking contrast. Softer options like cashmere offer gentle warmth, and green and sand tones work beautifully in nature-inspired bathrooms. We also offer specialist finishes such as gold accents and pointing white for heritage-style and high-end installations.

First, fix the unit securely to the wall, connecting the concealed cistern to the water supply, and attaching the toilet pan to the front while linking it to the soil pipe. The flush plate is then fitted through the unit’s pre-cut opening and connected to the cistern mechanism. Wall fixings should be anchored to solid masonry or studs, and adjustable feet should be used to level uneven floors. Plumbing typically requires a 15mm water supply and alignment with existing soil pipe positions (usually 180–230mm from floor level).
For comprehensive guidance, consult our detailed article on how to install a new toilet. Professional installation is recommended if you’re uncertain about plumbing connections or structural wall fixings.
Maintenance is simple and focuses on visible areas such as the toilet pan, flush plate, and unit exterior. Clean the pan with standard toilet cleaner and a brush, and wipe furniture surfaces with a mild detergent and soft cloth, avoiding abrasive products. Concealed cisterns only need occasional checks for leaks or mechanism issues and are easily accessed via removable panels, while flush plates and buttons can be replaced with simple cable connections. Most units include soft-close, quick-release seats that wipe clean easily and can be removed for more thorough cleaning.
