Small Baths
A small bathroom doesn't mean compromising on bathing comfort. Our small baths range from 1200mm to 1500mm in length, fitting neatly into compact en-suites, cloakrooms and petite bathrooms whilst still providing a proper soak. Choose from straight baths with single or double-ended designs, freestanding baths with decorative roll-top styling, and shower baths offering dual functionality. All models feature durable acrylic construction for strength, efficient heat retention and easy cleaning.
Small baths typically measure 1200-1500mm in length, making them ideal for compact bathrooms, en-suites, and awkward layouts. The best size for you depends on your space and needs:
- 1200mm small baths: The truly compact option, best for very tight or small en-suites. These small baths suit children and adults up to roughly 5'4" (163cm). Taller users can still use it but may sit more upright.
- 1300mm small baths: A practical upgrade fitting most compact bathrooms comfortably.
- 1400mm small baths: The most popular size, 1400mm baths balance space efficiency with noticeably better legroom. These accommodate most adults up to about 5'10" (178cm) with a more relaxed soak.
- 1500mm small baths: Offers comfortable bathing for average-height users while remaining within the small bath category. Users over 6' (183cm) generally prefer 1500mm baths or large baths for better leg extension.
Widths typically range from 650mm for narrow baths, 700mm as the standard small bath width, and 800mm for additional shoulder room where space allows. Bath depth usually ranges from 370mm to 670mm, covering both shallower designs and deeper models that offer greater immersion.
Our Bath Size Guide explains dimensions in detail to help you measure your space accurately.
A 1200mm small bath typically holds 100-120 litres, the 1300mm size accommodates 120-140 litres, whilst 1400mm holds 150-180 litres. At 1500mm length, expect 200-220 litre capacity. Narrow widths at 650mm reduce capacity by approximately 15-20 litres compared to 700mm widths. Deeper baths increase capacity despite shorter lengths.
- Small straight baths (single-ended): Feature one sloped end for reclining; the most common and cost-effective small bath style.
- Small double-ended baths: Sloped ends at both sides with the waste centred; offers flexible positioning and occasional two-person use.
- Small freestanding baths: Typically, 1500mm in length, including roll-top designs with decorative feet or boat-shaped profiles; ideal as statement pieces in period-style bathrooms.
- Small corner baths: Fit into unused corners with L-shaped profiles, commonly 1300mm-1500mm, these maximise space in tight layouts.
- Small shower baths: Combine bathing and showering with L- or P-shaped designs; feature wider sections for comfortable standing while showering.
- Small whirlpool baths: Some baths include built-in massage jets for hydro-therapy benefits in compact dimensions. Models at 1500mm can feature 6, 10 or 14 jets, depending on configuration, positioned to target key muscle groups.

Our small baths use 5mm acrylic construction as standard. Acrylic provides strength whilst remaining lightweight, simplifying installation in upper-floor bathrooms or properties with floor load concerns. The material retains heat more effectively than other bathtubs, keeping bathwater warmer for longer. The smooth, non-porous acrylic surface resists bacteria and cleans easily with standard bathroom products. For enhanced durability, some models offer Carronite baths featuring reinforced composite construction with extended guarantees.
Choosing a deeper bath can greatly enhance comfort, with depths of 450–500mm allowing for better shoulder immersion even in shorter baths. Ergonomic designs with contoured backs provide lumbar support and follow the body’s natural curves, making sitting positions more relaxing.
Adding bath pillows or headrests provides extra cushioning for the neck and head, especially useful in compact baths where you sit more upright. Twin grip handles improve safety, giving secure support when entering or exiting the bath, particularly for elderly users or those with mobility concerns. For an extra touch of luxury, optional spa features such as hydrotherapy or whirlpool jets can deliver a warm water massage to relieve muscle tension and enhance relaxation, even in smaller bath dimensions.
Small bath installation follows standard procedures requiring proper floor support, level positioning and secure plumbing connections. The lighter weight compared to larger baths benefits upper-floor installations. Straight baths position against walls with front and end panels covering exposed sides. Freestanding models need floor-mounted or wall-mounted taps with visible or concealed pipework. For guidance, read How to Buy and Install a New Bath.
Maintenance involves regular cleaning with non-abrasive bathroom cleaners suitable for acrylic. Wipe down after use to prevent limescale buildup. Read our guide to How to Clean a Bath for more information.
