How Clearpay works

Clearpay splits your purchase into four equal payments. The first is taken at the time of purchase, and the remaining three are deducted automatically every two weeks from your chosen payment method. The full amount is paid within six weeks.

There's no interest and no fees for on-time payments — you pay exactly the price of your order, nothing more. You can also make early payments at any time through your Clearpay account or the app.

How to use Clearpay at checkout

You don't need to register before your first purchase. Simply select Clearpay at checkout, enter your payment details and complete your order. Your Clearpay account is created automatically — you can then download the app or visit clearpay.co.uk to manage your account and future payments.

Clearpay is available for online purchases only — it cannot be used for phone orders or in-store purchases.

Who can use Clearpay?

To use Clearpay you must be at least 18 years old, a UK resident (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland — excluding the Channel Islands), and hold a valid UK Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card. You'll also need a verifiable phone number, email address, and a valid form of ID.

Spending limits

The maximum you can spend on a single Clearpay transaction, including delivery, is £1,200. If your order exceeds this, you can split the order and use another payment method for the remaining balance.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss a payment, your Clearpay account will be paused until the outstanding amount is cleared. You have until 11pm the following day to make the payment. After that, a late fee of £6 is charged per missed instalment, with an additional £6 if it remains unpaid after seven days.

Late fees are capped at £6 for orders under £24. For orders over £24, the total late fee is capped at the lower of £24 or 25% of the order value. Missed payments may affect your ability to use Clearpay in the future.

Returns and refunds with Clearpay

If you need to return an item, contact Bathroom City first to arrange it. Then open the Clearpay app and use the "Pause and Notify" feature — this pauses your remaining payments so you're not charged a late fee while the return is being processed. Once we confirm the refund, Clearpay will refund the applicable amount to the card you used.

Is Clearpay safe?

Yes. Clearpay holds PCI-DSS Level 1 certification — the highest level of payment card security — and is ISO/IEC 27001 certified, meaning its information security systems are independently audited. Your card details are protected to the highest standard.
