Single Ended Baths

A single ended bath keeps the taps and waste at one end and leaves the other clear, with a sloped back to lean against. Ours run from a compact 1200mm up to a generous 1800mm in 700mm and 800mm widths, including whirlpool models, all made and sold direct at factory outlet prices.

What is a single ended bath?

The taps and waste sit at one end, and the opposite end has a sloped back to lean against. It's the shape most UK bathrooms are built around, designed to drop into a three walled alcove with the tap end against the plumbing wall. If you mostly bathe alone, this shape gives you the most comfortable position for the floor space it takes up.

What sizes do your single ended baths come in?

Lengths run 1200mm, 1300mm, 1400mm, 1500mm, 1600mm, 1700mm and 1800mm, in widths of 700mm and 800mm. Most sit around 385mm tall. 1700 x 700mm is the UK standard and the size most alcoves were built to, so start there unless you know your space is unusual. Measure the alcove wall to wall at floor level and again at the height the rim will sit, as older walls are rarely square, and allow a few millimetres for tiles and adhesive. Our guide on how to choose a bath goes through the measurements properly.

Can you shower over a single ended bath?

Yes, and plenty of people do. The tap end is straight and upright, which gives you room to stand. A straight bath keeps the same width along its full length, so an 800mm model buys you noticeably more elbow room than a 700mm one. Add a bath screen to keep water off the floor. If showering is the main event in your bathroom, a purpose built shower bath with a widened showering end will serve you better.

Are single ended baths a good option for a small bathroom?

They're the usual answer for one. The 1200mm, 1300mm and 1400mm models are built for cloakrooms, ensuites and family bathrooms where a standard 1700mm simply won't go in. At those lengths you'll be sitting more upright than stretched out, though the sloped back keeps it comfortable. Our small baths collection has every compact option we make.

Can I get a single ended bath with whirlpool jets?

Two in this collection: the Galaxy at 1800 x 800mm with 16 jets, and the Mercury at 1500 x 700mm with 14 jets. Whirlpool baths need a power supply near the bath, fitted by a qualified electrician, plus a little more upkeep than a standard tub. Mention it to your fitter early so the electrics can be planned in. Our full whirlpool baths range covers other shapes and sizes.

What guarantee do your single ended baths come with?

Most of the acrylic baths here carry a 10-year guarantee, shown on each product page. Every order comes with 365-day returns. Delivery is free on orders over £50, on a date you choose up to 100 days ahead, and the driver calls on the day to confirm your slot. Full details are on our delivery information page.

Baths from across the range are on display at our Birmingham showroom, seven days a week, which is the quickest way to settle the 700mm versus 800mm question. You can also call the team on 0121 753 0700.
