Cloakroom Bathroom Suites

A cloakroom suite keeps things simple — a toilet, a basin and sometimes a compact vanity unit, all matched in style and proportion so the smallest room in your house looks like it was planned, not patched together. Every suite here has been put together for rooms where you're working with a metre or less of wall space. Pick a suite that fits the gap and the room does the rest.

Cloakroom bathroom suites

A cloakroom is one of the simplest rooms to furnish — you need a toilet and a basin — but it's also one of the easiest to get wrong. A toilet that projects too far from the wall blocks the door. A basin that's too wide crowds the toilet. Finishes that don't match make the room look like it was assembled from leftovers. A cloakroom suite avoids all of that by giving you pieces that have already been selected to work together in a tight space.

What's in a cloakroom suite?

Most cloakroom suites include a short projection toilet and a compact basin or slim vanity unit. Some suites add a tap, a bottle trap and a mirror for a more complete package. The pieces are matched in style — the curves of the toilet echo the basin shape, the proportions are balanced side by side, and the white tones are consistent. It's a small number of products, but in a room this size, getting them right matters more than anywhere else.

Short projection toilets — essential in a cloakroom

A standard close coupled toilet projects around 650mm to 700mm from the wall. In a cloakroom that might only be 900mm wide, that's most of your room gone. Short projection toilets sit at 600mm or less, giving you back centimetres that make the difference between a door that opens comfortably and one that clips the pan. Every toilet in our cloakroom suites has been chosen with this in mind.

Basin options — wall hung, vanity or corner

The simplest option is a wall hung basin — compact, no furniture needed, and easy to clean around. If you want concealed storage, a slim vanity unit at 400mm wide gives you a cupboard or drawer underneath without taking up much more space. Corner basins and corner vanity units work in awkward layouts where the standard wall isn't wide enough for a basin and a toilet side by side. The suite you choose depends on the shape of your room and whether storage matters to you.

Keeping proportions right

In a cloakroom, proportion is everything. A toilet and basin that look fine individually can feel completely wrong next to each other if one is much taller, wider or deeper than the other. Suites solve this by pairing pieces that are designed to sit together at the right scale — the toilet height balances with the basin height, the depth of the toilet balances with the projection of the vanity, and the overall visual weight feels even from one side of the room to the other.

Making a cloakroom feel finished

A suite handles the main pieces, but a few small additions make the difference between functional and finished. A compact mirror above the basin reflects light and makes the room feel larger. A matching tap in chrome, matt black or brushed brass ties the brassware together. A toilet roll holder and a simple towel ring on the wall add the finishing touches without cluttering the room. Keep it simple — in a cloakroom, less is always more.

Need help choosing a cloakroom suite?

Bring your room measurements to our Birmingham showroom or call us on 0121 753 0700. Cloakrooms are tight spaces with very little margin for error, so getting the dimensions right before you buy is essential. We'll help you find a suite that fits the room you've got.

What's included in a cloakroom suite?

Most cloakroom suites include a short projection toilet and a compact basin or slim vanity unit. Some suites also include a tap, waste and mirror. Check each suite's product page for the full list of what's included.

What size cloakroom do I need for a suite?

A cloakroom as small as 800mm x 1200mm can fit a short projection toilet and a wall hung basin. For a suite with a vanity unit, you'll need around 1000mm to 1200mm of wall space to sit the toilet and vanity side by side. Measure the room including the door swing to make sure everything fits with the door closed.

What's a short projection toilet?

A short projection toilet sits closer to the wall than a standard toilet — typically 600mm or less from wall to front, compared to 650mm to 700mm for a standard close coupled toilet. In a cloakroom, those extra centimetres make a real difference to how the room feels and whether the door opens comfortably.

Can I have a vanity unit in a cloakroom?

Yes. Slim cloakroom vanity units from 400mm wide give you a basin with a small cupboard or drawer underneath. They take up barely more space than a pedestal basin but add useful concealed storage. Wall hung versions keep the floor clear and make the room feel more open.

What if my cloakroom has an awkward shape?

Corner basin suites and corner vanity suites are designed for rooms where the walls don't give you a straight run for a standard toilet-and-basin layout. Under-stairs cloakrooms, L-shaped rooms and rooms with angles are all good candidates for corner configurations.

Do cloakroom suites come with taps?

Some do, some don't. Where a tap is included, it will be listed on the product page. Where it isn't, we can recommend a tap that matches the suite's style and finish.

What colours and finishes are available?

Cloakroom suites are available in a range of furniture finishes including white gloss, matt grey, anthracite, natural oak and walnut. Brassware options include chrome, matt black, brushed brass and brushed bronze. Check each suite for the finishes available.

Should I choose wall hung or floor standing pieces?

Wall hung pieces are generally better for cloakrooms because they keep the floor clear and make the room feel less crowded. Floor standing options are easier to install and work well if the walls aren't suitable for heavy fixings. In either case, check the depth of the pieces against the width of your room.

Is it worth buying a suite for a cloakroom?

Yes. Even though a cloakroom only needs two or three pieces, having them matched in style and proportion makes the room look intentional rather than assembled. Suites also take the guesswork out of making sure the pieces sit well together in a very small space.

Can you help me choose a cloakroom suite?

Yes. Call us on 0121 753 0700 or visit our Birmingham showroom with your room measurements, including the door swing direction. We'll help you find a suite that fits your cloakroom and make sure nothing gets overlooked.
