What size shower tray do I need?

Start by measuring the space where your shower will go, along the length and across the width, and work from the smallest figure. Then, match it to your enclosure, as your tray needs to be exactly the same size as the glass sitting on top. As a rough guide:

800mm to 1000mm long trays suit compact ensuites and smaller shower rooms.
1100mm to 1400mm long trays give you a comfortable everyday shower with room to move.
1500mm to 2000mm long trays are ideal for walk-in showers and spacious family bathrooms.

Most of our trays come in 700mm, 760mm, 800mm, or 900mm widths, so you can fine-tune the fit to your room.

What are the most popular rectangular shower tray sizes?

A handful of sizes come up again and again, because they fit so many standard bathrooms and enclosures.

1200 x 800mm is a real all-rounder, perfect for a sliding or hinged door with a side panel.
1200 x 900mm and 1400 x 900mm give you a deeper, roomier shower.
1000 x 800mm and 900 x 800mm suit compact ensuites, without feeling cramped.

What size shower tray do I need for a walk-in shower?

Because a walk-in has no door, a little extra length makes all the difference in keeping water where it belongs. Most people find a tray of 1400mm or longer gives them room for both a showering area and a drier space near the entrance. Luckily, our range goes right up to 2000 x 900mm, giving you a truly spacious walk-in.

Pair your tray with one of our walk-in showers, and position the shower head at the closed end, so the spray points away from the opening.

Can I replace my bath with a shower tray?

Yes, and it's one of the most popular bathroom upgrades there is. A standard bath takes up a footprint of around 1700 x 700mm, which means a 1700 x 700mm shower tray can often slot straight into the same space. You'll gain a shower that's easier to step into and quicker to clean, without needing to rethink your whole layout.

Should I choose a slimline or standard height tray?

It comes down to the look you want and where your waste pipe runs.

A 26mm slimline slate tray sits almost flush with the floor for a sleek, modern finish.
A 40mm anti-slip stone resin tray gives you classic depth and suits most standard installations.
If your waste pipe runs above floor level, a raised shower tray with a riser kit hides the pipework neatly away.

How do I fit a rectangular shower tray?

It's all about getting the base right. The floor needs to be solid and level, and the tray should sit perfectly flat, so water drains properly and your enclosure closes evenly on top. Take your time with the spirit level, seal every edge carefully, and let the silicone cure fully before your first shower.
