Size and shape: as a guide, choose a mirror no wider than your basin or vanity unit. Round and oval mirrors soften a square room, while rectangular mirrors suit wide vanities.

Light and colour: front-lit mirrors light your face for grooming, backlit mirrors cast a soft halo on the wall. Colour temperature control lets you pick warm white for relaxing or cool white for make-up.

What is an LED bathroom mirror?

An LED bathroom mirror is a mirror with built-in LED lights, usually around the edge, behind the glass or in a frame. It gives clear, shadow-free light for everyday tasks such as shaving and applying make-up, and can also act as soft ambient lighting in the bathroom.

Do LED bathroom mirrors need an electrician to fit?

Yes. Illuminated mirrors are usually hardwired into the lighting circuit, and bathroom electrics must follow UK wiring regulations. We recommend using a qualified electrician, who can also advise on the correct zone and IP rating for where the mirror will hang.

What does a demister pad do?

A demister pad is a thin heated pad fixed behind the mirror glass. It warms the glass slightly so condensation does not form, keeping the mirror clear after a hot bath or shower. On many mirrors it switches on with the lights.

What size LED mirror should I choose?

Measure the width of your basin or vanity unit and choose a mirror that is the same width or slightly narrower. Hang it so the centre sits roughly at eye level for the main users of the bathroom, usually leaving a small gap above the tap.

How long do the LEDs in a bathroom mirror last?

LEDs are long-lasting and energy efficient, and are designed to run for many thousands of hours. Check each product page for the rated lifespan and IP rating, and follow the care guide to keep the mirror in good condition.

How do I clean an illuminated mirror?

Switch the mirror off and let it cool, then wipe the glass with a soft microfibre cloth and a mild glass cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth rather than the mirror, so liquid does not run into the lights or the edges.
