What is a wall mounted basin tap?

It’s a tap that’s fixed to the wall above your sink, rather than sitting on the sink itself. The spout reaches out over the bowl, and the handle sits on the wall alongside it, with all the water pipes hidden behind the tiles. With nothing on the surface around the sink, it gives the whole area a cleaner look and makes it far easier to keep tidy.

Which sinks work with a wall mounted tap?

A wall mounted tap is designed for sinks that have no tap hole of their own. That makes it a natural partner for a countertop bowl sitting on a vanity unit, as you won’t need a tall tap standing beside it. It also works well with some wall hung sinks, keeping the look simple and uncluttered.

Browse our countertop basins and wall hung basins to find a match.

How high should a wall mounted basin tap be?

The spout needs to sit far enough above the rim of the sink for you to wash your hands comfortably, but not so high that the water splashes as it lands. It also needs to reach far enough over the bowl for the water to fall near the centre rather than the edge. Our Pescara tap has a 155mm spout, so check the depth of your sink against this before you buy, and decide on the exact height with your plumber before the wall is tiled.

How is a wall mounted tap fitted?

The pipes that feed the tap run inside the wall, so it’s best planned as part of a renovation, before tiling or plastering. A plumber will fit the hidden part of the tap into the wall first, then add the spout and handle once the wall is finished. It’s a bigger job than swapping a tap that sits on the sink, so it isn’t usually a DIY project, but the result is a much neater, more minimal sink area.

How do I look after a brushed brass tap?

Brushed brass has a soft, warm finish that hides fingerprints and water marks better than polished metals. To keep it looking its best, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and a mild bathroom cleaner, then dry it off. Avoid bleach, scouring pads, and abrasive products, as these can damage the finish. For a coordinated look, pair it with taps and accessories in the same tone from our gold bathroom taps and gold bathroom accessories.
